Istanbul Kadıköy nightlife cluster
The purpose of this paper is to introduce the Kadikoy Nightlife Cluster located in the Asian part of Turkey’s largest city Istanbul, and assess its current situation.
Abstract: Despite their importance in the country’s economy and culture, little is known about the nightlife clusters in Turkey. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the Kadikoy Nightlife Cluster located in the Asian part of Turkey’s largest city Istanbul, and assess its current situation. While examining one of the most renowned nightlife clusters in the country, the study also evaluates the current condition of the nightlife industry in Turkey and identifies its challenges within the context of the recent political, economic and social developments. The assessment of Kadikoy Nightlife Cluster’s current condition points out to the necessity of a more intense and close collaboration among all the actors, including governmental institutions, in order to improve the cluster’s performance.
